Weekend Recap

I love the recaps that Nanette does at the end of each weekend so I am totally biting off her and starting my own set of recaps. Thanks for the inspiration dear!

I had originally planned on doing a little shopping and then heading to dance class Friday night, but instead, I was pleasantly surprised by a phone call from Jim saying he was taking the night off and wanted us to go out to dinner. Yay! We headed to our favorite little french place at the Farmer's Market, Monsieur Marcel, for steak and lots of red wine. When we got there we were excited to see that they had updated their menu and while keeping the old favorites had greatly expanded their appetizer, cheese and wine selections. We started with a cheese platter and a bottle of cabernet, then filet mignon with gratin potatoes for me and the steak special for Jim. It was fantastic (as usual) and it left us no room for dessert. Jim and I had a great time just hanging out and talking and it was the nice end to a long week at work.

Saturday Jim rolled into the office fairly early, which left me with the rest of the day to do whatever I wanted. First stop was the gym for cardio fusion class from my favorite fitness instructor Deb. After class it was off to Pasadena to have lunch and shop with a friend. We also made time to try 21 Choices and see what all the hype was about. This place always seems to have a line out the door and neither of us could figure out why. Once inside, it became pretty clear --- it is like Cold Stone but with yogurt instead of ice cream. And the list of add-ins is extensive, with everything from fruit to candy and cereal to cookies. I went with the plain vanilla with strawberries and peaches and my friend got chocolate with butterfinger. We both sat their with huge grins on faces lapping up the sugary goodness so I think it is fair to say we thought it was good. And well worth the wait in my opinion.

Saturday night was fairly mellow. Jim came home for a late dinner and then we watched Rounders, which I had never seen before. I really liked it and it was a good choice for the evening.

Sunday was a pretty vanilla day. A late breakfast at home, a short and fairly inexpensive trip to Target (I got out for under $60!) and dance class in the evening. We've just finished dinner and Jim is back in the office working while I'm writing this and watching the Tony awards (we don't have HBO, so no Sopranos finale for us tonight). All in all, it was a pretty good last few days.

And tomorrow starts yet another week.... sigh.

  2. I saw 21 choices on Friday when I was out that way and wondered if I shouldn't wander over there. The box of Dots in my car stopped me. Glad you (two) had a yummy time.
