We weren't going to do anything the weekend before my birthday, but then at the last minute, Jim decided to put together a party. Poor thing wanted to just do takeout BBQ, but as soon as I realized that we'd be hosting more than 1 or 2 people, I might have taken over and revamped the menu a bit. Oops. ;) As one of my co-workers said though "How did he not know that you'd take over party prep as soon as you heard he was putting together a party?!" My thoughts exactly.
The bash was a total laid back and casual affair. Family and friends from various groups came out to celebrate and I couldn't have been in better spirits.
Jim and Biff working the grill, while Blondie, my MIL and Sporty monitor the situation.
With my girls, Blondie and Sporty.
Family enjoying dinner and drinks by the pool.
SFAM group shots. Gotta love me showin' off my dancing skills while VF looks on in amusement. Hehehe.
There were other folks there and plenty of picture-taking opportunities, but instead of taking advantage of them, I was focused on socializing aaaaand partaking in the Rum Punch I had made. Hot damn! That stuff was good, but it was strong. I was in too much of a good mood to notice just how tipsy I was getting (though I'm sure everyone else was quite aware of it) so I kept sipping it. And sipping it. And then sipping it some more. As the party was winding down, Blondie, Sporty, Biff, Jim and his cousin got me to hang out with them in the pool and hot tub, where I proceeded to chase the rum punch with wine. Lots and lots of wine. :| I truly had the best birthday ever, but OMG, I've never been so drunk, nor as sick as I was that night nor as hungover as I was for the next 2 days.
Yeah, it was one helluva a party alright. Even though I wasn't really feeling human again until approximately Monday, I had the best time. Thanks to everyone who came out and made my birthday so much fun!! Ya'll rock!! :D
Next up, the birthday celebration continues with a wine- and food-filled trip to a foodie's paradise - Yountville!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I know what you mean about summer birthdays - I haven't had a birthday party in years! I think I've had 2 parties with friends in the past 11 years. Mostly it's just me and the boy...and there have even been a couple of years where it's just me because even my family was out of town!
